Debut

OpenAI has confidentially filed for an IPO with the SEC. The company has yet to decide on the timing of the offering. It may be a while before OpenAI goes public, as there are things the company wants to do that are likely easier as a private entity, but the filing gives it the option to go public sooner if that ends up being best. OpenAI plans to facilitate a tender offer that will allow employees to sell shares at its latest $852 billion post-money valuation to alleviate some near-term liquidity pressure.

Power

Commonwealth Fusion Systems says that the physics of its commercial-scale power plant has been validated by five peer-reviewed papers. The company is now targeting the early 2030s to put energy on the grid. It is building a 400-megawatt facility in Virginia and a demonstration machine in Massachusetts. It has so far raised almost $3 billion from investors, including Bill Gates' Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Nvidia's venture arm.

Science & Futurism

Loop Engineering

Loop engineering is when a developer replaces themselves as the person who prompts the agent with a system that does it instead. The loop is a recursive goal where the user defines a purpose and the AI iterates until complete. The technology is still early - users have to be careful about token costs and still monitor to ensure quality - but this is likely the future of how people work with coding agents. Stop prompting coding agents and design loops that prompt agents instead.
